Emoke Papai's 73rd-minute strike secured Hungary a 1-0 win over the Swiss at Hidegkuti Nandor Stadium on Tuesday in their latest Euro 2025 qualifier. Aston Villa's Lehmann started the game but was hooked at half-time as their bid to win Group B1 of League B in their qualifying campaign suffered a blow. Despite that, Switzerland have vowed to rebound from this defeat.

On Wednesday, the Swiss team posted a series of photos on Instagram, including one of Lehmann, and wrote: "We well come back stronger – together!"

THE BIGGER PICTURE

This is not a terminal loss for the Swiss as they are hosting Euro 2025, so they have no fears about not qualifying for the tournament. However, the fact that they lost to a team ranked 21 places below them in FIFA's ranking (20th vs 41st) is, arguably, cause for concern.
